Johnny One Note at the Alqonquin Salon

Sunday I had a terrific day – met with some friends of mine (Julie Reyburn, Adam West Hemming, and Vanessa Parvin) to rehearse for an as-yet-to-be-released project, then headed over to the Algonquin Salon to sing at the open mic. This week was special, for not only was the theme “Richard Rogers’ Neighborhood,” but it was hosted by Rita Gardner, the original Luisa from The Fantastiks. She sang a few songs herself, showing that age does not necessarily mean your vocal and emotional power weaken. She was beautiful!!! “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” revisited at the Algonquin Salon 4/26/09

For those who have seen this video of me performing “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?” in my 5th grade play “Voices From The Past,” here’s an update! I sang the same song at the Algonquin Salon last night. The theme was “The First Time,” so I explained how this song was indelibly connected to the first moment I began thinking of myself as a singer for life, and not just as a singer for fun in my living room. Big Night Out Opening Night at Dillon’s

I was at the pleasure of Jennifer Wren & Bill Zeffiro’s gracious and talented hosting for the Opening Night celebration of Big Night Out at their new performance space at The Reprise Room at Dillon’s on West 54th Street. We had a terrific evening of song and humor. Jennifer is an ebullient, effervescent hostess, full of spunk and bubbly humor.
